Research:

I started my research by looking into different fan theories on shows I've watched this was really essential because I didn't know which show to pick. By finding the different theories I was able to decide which would make better podcast material equally being easier to talk about. After deciding to make my podcast in relation with Stranger Things I looked into the background of the show. I wasn't sure whether to include this information into my podcast however I felt as though I needed a better understanding as to how the show was made. This research helped me immensely within my final product and I will continue to consider which research is essential in future projects.

After the research into my topic I decided to research my target audience although it is important research I found that I didn't really apply this to my product. This could be that I should have considered the target audience more however I found that this information would be more useful for advertisement. Then to continue my research I listened to two podcast one comparing films (Clash of the Titles) and the other discussing a specific episode (friends with friends). I found these both very helpful as they allowed me to observe how to make a podcast about another media to be interesting.

Planning:

I found my script challenging to write because I didn't want the talking to come across stilted however without a script I faced the problem of having gaps in conversation. Also I wrote my script in proper English however I asked my co host to speak as he would normally for example when I wrote "going to be" I wanted him to say "gonna" as he would typically. I made this choice because I wanted the conservation to appear natural hoping it wouldn't sound as though we were reading from a script. To continue my planning I needed to find music for my introduction and for when were stating the theories. I debated using the Stranger Things theme song because I thought it would allow the audience to understand what the podcast is based around within the first ten seconds. Except I found the music was quite dark which is not the the tone I wanted for the rest of podcast. I was unsure whether when the music is added with the voices it would effect the atmosphere of the podcast.  However once it was cut together I found the music did not effect the overall tone and instead provided a sense of inclusion with the show and it's fans. Planning my podcast was essential without a script my podcast would have not worked after this project I appreciate the importance of planning and will take more time on the matter in future.

Production:

I found doing my sound tests in my research really helped when it came to my actual podcast. Because I hadn't used the equipment before not only did the tests allow me to understand the best way to record my sound but also helped me to get use to the equipment, so that when it came to recording I was confident I had recorded the audio accurately. Recording my audio went very well my co host was professional and listened to my advice and was easily able talk naturally. It was vital for me to pick a good co host and project would not have worked if not.

Editing took me slightly longer than I anticipated as I had not used the software before and I had to learn what I had to do before I could do it. However because I recorded a podcast and only had a few sound effects I was able to quickly edit after I understood the software. At this point I wondered whether I had made my podcast complex enough because I felt as if it was easy just recording voices then adding some music. This made me debate going back and adding more sounds so I reviewed the podcasts I had researched which helped me feel more confident because I realised that my focus should be more on the quality of my sounds rather than the quantity. In my next project I will consider reviewing my research more regularly as it helped me to stay on track.

Final Product:

Overall I was very happy with my final product I believed I was able to make the topic interesting for my audience by having original ideas to talk about as well having two informed people discussing the show. I'm glad I decided to pick this idea out of three as it made entertaining content but also branched out from my other projects. I really enjoyed learning about new software in the future I will consider the quality of my sound more effectively.
